Màiri Joanne Anderson teaches English as a foreign language in Italy at the Centro Linguistico di Ateneo at the state university Alma Mater Studiorum: Università di Bologna as well as at the private university SSML Istituto di Alti Studi: CARLO BO, which is specifically for Linguistic Mediators.
Originally from the UK, Màiri began her teaching career in Spain in 2001. She taught students at all levels and ages before specialising in tertiary education and English for Specific Purposes. She has worked for the British Council, the Escola d’Idiomes Moderns at the Universität de Barcelona, and she was also a Cambridge examiner for many years.
She has several publications already under her belt, and she possesses the following qualifications: Italian MA Hons from the University of Edinburgh, the Cambridge CELTA and Cambridge Delta teaching qualifications as well as a Master’s in Education in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), specifically in English for Academic Purposes, for which she was awarded a ‘Distinction’.
Màiri began teaching online during the pandemic and became interested in Artificial Intelligence for teaching and learning purposes as soon as it came out. To encourage her students to work autonomously – but responsibly - she began to experiment with prompts so they could practise their English on their own. Her students loved these prompts so much that she decided to publish a collection.
She is currently working on the next level for this series.
